"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no on to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A chord of three strands is not quickly broken." -Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Hello Family, Friends, and Prayer Warriors!!
I am writing to tell you how we are doing. Our flights went really easily (despite the fact that my peanut butter was confiscated from me at the airport) :) but the Lord has been so gracious to us. We had some sweet time of fellowship in London. We took the Underground to Green Park, got some coffee, and walked around the city taking in the sites, and eventually laying down in the grass in front of the Palace. We got to pray and read the Word, and we met some other missionaries on their way to Nigeria who are from the US.
We then went to the airport and got on the plane and slept probably 6 of the 8 1/2 hours of the flight. We arrived in Uganda yesterday morning and Praise the Lord, it went so smoothly. We got our Visas quickly, both our bags arrived (PTL!!), and exchanged money easily. Our driver arrived soon after and we were on our way to Sanyu. We arrived, put down our bags, and then went to speak with Barbara (the person in charge). After talking with her about everything, we came back to our room to take a little nap (we were both feeling nauseous and exhausted from the jet lag). Well, about 6 hours later we woke up. I went to shower, and praise God, the water was HOT....almost too much. God provides abundantly! We then went to the living room for dinner and met our other house mates. They are ladies from all around the world. 4 from the US, 4 from England, 1 from Canada, 1 from France, and a few other I haven't met fully yet. We watched come of the World Cup as we ate, and it was obvious to Nicole and I that these ladies are a definite missions field. Pray for us as we witness to them. We played cards with some of the ladies after dinner, and then Nicole and I headed for bed. We both woke up at around 4am and not able to go back to bed. Nicole's mosquito net had fallen on top of her in the middle of the night, so at 4:30am, these 2 white chickas were laughing and trying to fix the bright green mosquito net. After about 15 minutes, we were victorious. A half hour later, the call to prayer echoed around the city, and there was no chance of falling back to sleep. We got up early, journaled, read, and prayed. We ate Cliff Bars for breakfast and headed out to see the kids. We got to wash dishes instead but then got to go the baby classroom a little later. I have to be honest right now, with all my schooling and experience working with kids "properly" in the States, I was crawling in my skin while being in the classroom with the babies, mama's, and other volunteers. After a few hours in that room, I went with a woman named Dawn to the infant room. I immediately felt more at peace and I think the Lord is wanting to use me more with the newborns. Pray that the Lord would continue to speak to me about what areas of the home He wants me and that He opens up conversations to speak with the other ladies. Our God is a God who generously provides and we are excited to see all the doors that He will open. Love you guys!! Thanks for the prayers!! Keep them coming. :D I praise the Lord for Nicole and that the Lord has allowed us to be here together. We are encouraging one another daily and spuring one another on. What a blessing to know that our chord of three strands consists of us two and the Lord.
thanks for the post! I love you!
